We are a group of physicians (Radiation Oncologists) who are trained in the use of radiation therapy for the treatment of a variety of tumors. Radiation therapy is often used alone, or in combination with surgery, chemotherapy, and/or immunotherapy to treat a wide variety of cancers.

Over the past decade, there has been an exponential increase in the number of cancer centers that offer a high-precision form of radiotherapy called proton therapy. Proton radiotherapy is often able to deliver radiation treatments to tumors which dramatically lower the amount of radiation to healthy normal tissues in the area.

Like any tool however, the expertise of the user is just as important as the machine that is utilized; our particular area of focus is on proton therapy, and we are proud to say that we are the world’s leaders in the use of proton therapy, with over a combined 100 years of experience with proton radiotherapy.

We provide our expertise to a variety of proton therapy centers around the world, and are happy to review patient cases to determine if they are suitable for proton therapy.

Proton Therapy

Proton therapy is a form of radiation therapy that utilizes a charged particle – a proton to deliver radiation treatments to a tumor. Most radiation treatments use x-rays, which are a high-energy photons in the electromagnetic spectrum.

The fundamental difference in a proton beam is that since it is a charged particle that has mass, it can stop very precisely! This allows a radiation oncologist to very precisely target a tumor while greatly limiting – or eliminating! – the radiation exposure to the healthy normal tissues. In return, the risk of side effects from the radiation treatment from protons can be less than that from x-ray based radiation therapy.
